Ling's week 2 discussion posts

I have trouble understanding some concepts repeated in the readings. What is the difference between "practices" and "praxis " ? I am also confused with the concept of "determination. "

Stuart Hall, in "The Meaning of New Times," talks about one of the changes during the New Time was walking toward the pluralism of thoughts. He talked about how the rise of British cultural studies and American cultural studies changed the paradigm of Eurocentrism. I wonder, with the increasingly globalized cultural studies, what has changed since the "New Times" in cultural studies? Do the pluralistic thoughts of cultural studies turn into a more converging manner or the opposite — the isolation of each cultural studies field (among each other or from the formerly established disciplines)?
